Warm up this holiday season with delicious homemade apple cider!

As winter settles in and temperatures drop, warm up with hot apple cider! This easy cider recipe is perfect all winter long, but is extra fun for all your holiday festivities. Get out the slow cooker and enjoy this winter time favorite! Here 's what you 'll need to get started. Ingredients: 10 fresh apples 1 orange 2 cinnamon sticks Dash of nutmeg (ground) Dash of cloves (ground or 4 whole) 1 Gallon of filtered water Choose your favorite apples. Be mindful that the apples will affect the flavor and the sweetness of the cider. If your cider turns out a bit tarter than expected, feel free to add a little sugar, honey, or maple syrup! Start by washing and peeling the apples.  Once peeled, cut the apples into slices and put them in a slow cooker. Next, add the orange. Slice it up  and add it to the pot. Then, add all the spices. Lastly, add the water. For extra sweetness and apple flavor, substitute the water with apple juice! Stir the pot a bit, and then leave the cider to simmer for about 8 hours. Once it 's ready, be sure to strain out all the spices and fruit. You can use a cheesecloth or mesh strainer. Serve with your favorite dessert and enjoy with friends and family!
